The snipping tool is an easy way to capture part of your screen to share with others. It is like screen capture. First you need to locate it:
Windows 7: Click on start > All Programs > Accessoriies > Snipping Tool
Windows 8: Go to the Start Page, right click or swipe up from the bottom, and go to all programs. Scroll to the right
Windows 8.1: Go to the start page, click the down arrow in the bottom left ofthe tiles and find it to the right
Windows 8 all: you can also just go to the start screen and start typing “Snipping” and it should come up.
From these, you can easily pin it to your startmenu, or taskbar for quick access. Once you open it, here is how it works:
Click “new”
This will allow you to select an area of the screen
Once you select an area, a new window will pop up that is the image of what you selected
Click File > Save As to save it.
You must choose a location for the file like Pictures
You can also change the file type. The defualt is png which is very universal, but jpeg is technically more universal.
Click save
You can now either close the snipping tool, or click new to do another one.
