Power Cycle or Reboot

Sometimes When computer and network equipment is not working properly, it is best to Power cycle or reboot it. This is a common practice with personal computers. Many people know to restart there computer. With routers or other network equipment the same principal applies. Here are the basic instructions:

  1. Locate the wireless router or network device. Locate the cable that goes to the power outlet
  2. Unplug either the outlet from the wall, or the connector directly connected to the router or network device
  3. Wait Approximately 20 seconds
  4. Power back the device
  5. Wait Approximately 1-5 minutes.
  6. Check internet connectivity.
