Here are instructions on how to get to brightness settings on windows 7. These will also be very similar to other windows systems (xp, vista, 7, 8, 8.1)

Each computer is different, but you can change the brightness usually be pressing keyboard short cuts. They are often indicated by a light bulb or or a sun symbol. There should be 2 of them, one to turn it up, and one to turn it down. Sometimes you can press them by themselves, but if not, you should be able to hold the function key and press them. The function key is by the ctrl, alt, and windows keys.

1. Go to: Start > Control Panel > Power Options
2. You can set up different power plans but usually the default is “Balanced.” The easiest thing to do is click where it says “Change Plan settings”
